Chana Poupko, A”H
Rabbi Chaim and Dr. Shoshana Poupko wanted to help shomer Shabbat families avoid the complicated logistics they faced when their daughter, Chana Poupko, z”l, was treated for cancer at Hackensack University Medical Center. The couple took turns on alternating Fridays walking two and a half hours to Hackensack so one parent could stay home with their other children. The couple turned to their religious community, Congregation Ahavath Torah in Englewood, where Rabbi Poupko was the associate rabbi, for help raising funds. Within two weeks, the congregation raised enough funds to help pay for the renovation of two Shabbat rooms turning them into the elegant and fully shabbos friendly “Second Avenue Suites” at the Audrey Hepburn Children’s House. May the zechus of this chesed bring an aliya to the neshama of Chana Tova Poupko A”h.
